POD Top Cover

I just ordered the POD top cover files and was wondering if anyone has found a filament for the main body that matches closely to the U1 case. I would like to get it as close as possible. Thanks

OK so I am in search of this as well and have searched various comments to find a filament that matches the U1 Exterior. I had some Bambu Labs Light Gray PLA and that looked the closest for the eyeball test. But they don't make it in PETG. So I tried searching by the RAL 7035 color code and it is hard to find in PETG. The search came back with 3 options.

  1. Spectrum PETG Premium Light Grey (But now sold out cuz I bought the last 3 spools) https://us.spectrumfilaments.com/products/filament-spectrum-petg-premium-high-speed-1-75mm-light-grey-1kg?_pos=1&_sid=ac5bb8f6a&_ss=r

  2. ColorFabb Economy PETG Light Grey https://colorfabb.com/petg-economy-light-gray

  3. 3DJAKE easyPETG Light Grey https://www.3djake.com/3djake/easypetg-light-grey

I started with the first and will report back. If anyone tries out any of the other suggestions please update.

U1 Top Cannot Open in BS

Hi All, this might just be my inexperience, but I cannot seem to get the U1 Top 3mf files to open in Bambu Studio. I receive some settings errors that BS tries to automatically resolve, then it just crashes/closes BS. All my machines are Bambu save my U1. I'd like to print the u1 top using my main bambu machines. Any advice?

So I reached out to Enrico last week and got this response from him that will help clear up this thread...

"So the files you downloaded are made for Orca Slicer, not Bambu Studio. I used Orca because Snapmaker’s slicer is based on it, and usually my models are meant to be printed on the machines they’re designed for.

What you can do is open the file in Orca Slicer and export the parts you want as STL files, then use those in Bambu Studio. Just keep in mind that not all parts may print properly on Bambu printers."

Mounting the U1 on the HDRY?

Do you have any suggestions for mounting the Snapmaker U1 on top of the HDRY? The HDRY has too small a footprint to simply set the printer on top...

HDRY: 390x400mm U1 (not including spool mounts): 420x499mm

Thanks!

Yeah, it's a catch-all. You can configure the HDRY to be a spool warehouse, which is what I'll probably end up doing if someone doesn't have a creative way to mount the U1 on top of the HDRY.

POD Acrylic Window Thickness?

I'm printing out the POD--IMO, the best-looking cover for the Snapmaker U1 to date--and I'm curious how thick the acrylic is supposed to be. I know in the HDRY project you mention using the acrylic from the Ikea frameless picture frame which is 0.6mm thick (pg 54 of the HDRY assembly instruction). Is that what we should use here?

Grazie mille!

I am looking for a template or something for the acrylic windows, I didn't see any in his plans when I bought the 3mf files. Do I just put a piece of paper up to the opening and make my own template? I just received my snapmaker u1 so am excited to get this printed.

You're going to get tired of me.

Hey, everybody,

I'm new to 3D printing, but I've hit the ground running. Chat GPT is a great help, but there's nothing like the voice of experience.

I just wanted to say "Hello" from California and apologize in advance if I ask dumb questions.
