I hope Enrico is having a blast on his well deserved vacation. I just want to give him a shout out for his latest file dump that includes lots of goodies for us Snapmaker makers. I have started printing the mod for the Panda Breath and will be looking to start on the HDRY system now that he has the Snapmaker interface for it. Cheers everyone.

So I am now the proud owner of a Snapmaker U1.... and all the files to add the POD, enclosed spools with drying, and the drawer system.

I am about 60% done printing the POD and am already looking at the need to add a filter and heated chamber to print ASA and more.

My thought is this: modify the back four panels to mount a Panda Breath! Once I am done printing and assembling, I will post my PRE-modified design.

Here is my current setup using two Creality filament dryers connected to the Snapmaker. Next to that is my Ender 3 V3 Plus bed slinger, also running a Creality dryer.

Tool box is gloss dark Army green, and houses all of my 3D tools for printing and finishing. Minimal printer movement due to the weight.

That’s my build and my setup.

I coated the spool holder with epoxy and used double foam to improve sealing, I’m still testing it.

I took 24v directly from the printer PSU and used touchless penetrating switch dimmers.

Pretty happy with results but not fully satisfied about dryers.

I’m using hula feet too.

What am I doing wrong here this is on the Snapmaker using petg. This the back top corner pieces. When I pull off the support there is near zero layer adhesion under them.

When will the panda Breath mod of the pod be ready? Im building the Pod now and am wondering if I should wait for the new back or go ahead?

Starting a new thread to document my spool holder modifications to increase drying and storage performance.

My first modification was to attempt to seal the spool holder to prevent ambient moisture from seeping in through holes, gaps or pores in the walls. I first tried using the aerosol version of flex seal on the inside of the spool holder. This was a total mess. The product was very difficult to apply evenly and remained very tacky intentionally due to interactions between the plastic and the aerosols in the can. I also used caulk to seal the outside gap between the drier adapter and main body. Unfortunately I didn't see appreciable increases in performance.

I then found a can of clear brush on flex seal and that went on much better. I applied an additional coat on the inside of the spool holder and also applied a coat to the exterior.…

So, I finished my build 2 weeks ago.

I have to say the build turned out gorgeous, especially if you postprocess and paint it. Kudos to Enrico for such a beautiful design.

However here are my observations to help the other members and others considering doing this build.

After lots of testing here are my observations and the issues that I faced that you will and might run into:

Did I get a bad batch from Snapmaker? Got my left side dry box finished, and the feeder cables are definitely not long enough. #1 spool is workable but not ideal. #2 spool doesn't reach the auto feeder at all. They are all the same length. Anyone else have this?

Also, with the spool holder attached, the plastic chassis on this thing really squeaks when moved. I checked the barren opposite side and it squeaks when you press on it as well, bit I think the weight of the spool holder definitely exacerbates it.

Another tip: the temp/humidity sensors linked to on Amazon are very fickle. Any pressure applied will glitch the screen. You need to be careful with how you install them to make sure they aren't tweaked.

Ignore the glass plate templates temporarily taped in.

Finally got around to fine tuningmy Top Cover, just had a few observations/suggestions

Some adjustability for the door fitment would be a great improvement, maybe a slight tweak to the door connection points.

I had to widen the F Bridge by a millimeter to get better door fitment, still having to manually seat the door when closing.

The gap between the cover and the top of the U1 could be improved by flaring out the bottom pieces so that the cover fits more snug. I like the round spacers that position it on the machine, but it doesn't seal great. See my next comment.

I understand that a chamber heater modification is coming, the above comment is directly for this. I'd like to throw my vote out for the Panda Breath.

Other than that, I love the design. Assembling the Left Hand Side Side Cover tomorrow.
