Panda Breath

If you are considering printing the Panda Breath mod that Enrico recently released, you may want to hold off for just a bit. I just got my Panda Breath in the mail. I printed and implemented the back pieces as soon as they were released. When I went to install it, I realized that it would not fit due to no cutouts for the power switch and USB port. I have emailed Enrico but he is still on vacation for a couple more days, Hopefully will hear something soon. Thanks

SpoolBox Comments and Questions

I've finally put the spoolbox together and couldn't help thinking about how I would remove the spoolbox if I had to access the side panel. Sure enough, within a week, I had to open the side panel to troubleshoot as the autofeeder stopped responding even when swapped out with 2 other autofeeder units. #1 Accessing Side Panel Does anyone have a good way to remove the SpoolBox easily? Do I remove everything and try to pry the sunken connector, or use the plate as leverage and risk damaging the screw connection? Update: Easy to remove without removing the plate. Pushing it back in might need removal of plate but that's fine. #2 Autofeeder Removal Is there a quick way to remove the autofeeders when they get stuck? It happens to me a lot (a few times a week) even after I've changed the autofeeders. I usually have to open the autofeeder and flip the whiteโ€ฆ

Another update. I've confirmed the issue with using 1kg Polymaker spools on the Spoolbox. The cardboard spools do not rotate smoothly enough for micro movements. i.e. no problem when loading the filament, but frequently getting filament error (U1 thinks the filament is stuck) when printing. The problem is more apparent with a full 1kg spool. No problem when using plastic spools so far.

I plan for a replacement spool holder using ball-bearings. Hopefully that'll improve the situation. One more grouse -- the filament inlet inside the Spoolbox is very difficult to reach when both filament spools are in position. Hands won't be able to reach in, and filaments are usually not straight, so there's usually a brief struggle to insert the filament.

Shout out to Enrico

I hope Enrico is having a blast on his well deserved vacation. I just want to give him a shout out for his latest file dump that includes lots of goodies for us Snapmaker makers. I have started printing the mod for the Panda Breath and will be looking to start on the HDRY system now that he has the Snapmaker interface for it. Cheers everyone.

I just finished the outer case of the hydra dry system and dang is it nice. TOU wheels on the Snapmaker now printing. Canโ€™t wait to get the Snapmaker on top.

Snapmaker U1 Mod

So I am now the proud owner of a Snapmaker U1.... and all the files to add the POD, enclosed spools with drying, and the drawer system.

I am about 60% done printing the POD and am already looking at the need to add a filter and heated chamber to print ASA and more.

My thought is this: modify the back four panels to mount a Panda Breath! Once I am done printing and assembling, I will post my PRE-modified design.

Here is my current setup using two Creality filament dryers connected to the Snapmaker. Next to that is my Ender 3 V3 Plus bed slinger, also running a Creality dryer.

Tool box is gloss dark Army green, and houses all of my 3D tools for printing and finishing. Minimal printer movement due to the weight.
